Global warming is a phenomenon related to an inadequate environment for the maintenance of life on the planet. At present, the accelerated climatic alteration due to the incidence of anthropic activities is evident. This modification of climatic conditions would certainly cause serious alterations in terms of both species and ecosystems. The Colombian Andean region represents an important biodiversity hotspot, but at the same time its ecosystems are considered among the most vulnerable to the effects of global climate change. The objective of this review is to provide information on the current state of biodiversity in the country, considering birds as bioindicators of this problem, contributing as a contribution so that governments, environmental groups and the community in general can jointly manage the adoption and/or strengthening of environmental policies, mitigation and adaptation measures that favor the conservation of biodiversity. For this study, a bibliographic review of the last ten years was carried out in different information search engines and/or databases. The construction of the manuscript was done by selecting scientific articles, theses (published and unpublished) and reports, excluding reviews and/or monographs.
