Typification and characterization of wood consumers in producing areas of the Colombian Orinoquia

The information information on the prospects of the wood market has caused a lack of uncertainty for producers and investors in the forestry sector. In order to know the behavior of the wood market in the Colombian Orinoquia, the Colombian Agricultural Research Corporation - AGROSAVIA, carried out a characterization of wood consumers as a point of reference for market demand. For this identification, a survey was conducted with 99 producers, marketers and wood processors, who were selected through simple random sampling. With the data obtained, multiple correspondence analyzes and cluster analyzes were carried out for the variables considered in the survey, which will generate six groups of producers, for which the most used species, the origin of the wood, the preference, the transportation costs, products generated and monthly wood consumption, among others, with the following typologies: 1) Large timber processors and traders mainly deparments from Meta and Vichada, 2) Large timber processors and traders mainly from Meta, 3) Small timber processors and traders mainly from Meta, 4) Small timber processors and traders the deparment of Casanare, 5) Small timber traders mainly from Meta and 6) Large timber producers, processors and traders in Meta and Casanare.
